Our client is seeking a Senior Financial Reporting Accountant to join the Financial Accounting and Reporting unit led by the CFO, situated in Houston, Texas. This role provides crucial support to the Financial Reporting Manager and encompasses a wide range of responsibilities related to month-end closing and intricate accounting tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage month-end closing activities, including the preparation and posting of journal entries, review of general ledger activity for accuracy, and assisting in resolving accounting closure issues.
Analyze and summarize financial data, including reviewing variances between different periods and providing explanations, along with generating other financial reports for management.
Take the lead on ad-hoc accounting projects and contribute to various corporate initiatives as needed.
Maintain monthly balance sheet account reconciliations and promptly address reconciling items and issues.
Prepare technical accounting memoranda to address the treatment of business transactions in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards.
Collaborate with both internal and external auditors, ensuring timely fulfillment of audit requests and the resolution of outstanding matters.
Conduct account analysis and research as necessary to ensure compliance with accounting standards and policies.
Generate single entity and/or consolidated financial statements, complete with related footnote disclosures, in line with International Financial Reporting Standards.
Provide relevant data to support the Corporate External Financial Reporting Team in meeting interim and annual regulatory reporting requirements.
Collaborate with individuals from various teams and offices to coordinate month-end closing and other financial reporting deliverables.
Evaluate processes and controls to make recommendations for continuous improvement and enhanced efficiencies.
Education and Experience Requirements:

Must have legal authorization to work in the US for any US employer without requiring sponsorship.
A Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting.
6+ years of experience in financial accounting, reporting, and/or audit (IFRS experience is a plus).
Preferably, prior accounting experience with a global Oil & Gas company.
Public accounting experience is a plus.
CPA license is preferred.
Prior experience with SAP or a similar accounting system.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
