Our company is seeking an experienced, detail-oriented and strategic Accounting Manager to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the financial and accounting operations within our commercial real estate portfolio. This is a permanent position that offers an exciting opportunity to work in a challenging, fast-paced environment. The role requires a deep understanding of commercial and retail accounting, property management, and real estate. If you have a passion for numbers, a knack for accuracy and a keen eye for detail, this could be the perfect role for you.
Responsibilities:
1. Oversee and manage the general accounting functions, including, but not limited to: accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and taxes.
2. Coordinate and execute the month-end and year-end close process, ensuring accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end reporting.
3. Perform CAM reconciliations (CAM recs.) and handle all aspects of property management accounting.
4. Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements and reports, highlighting key trends, variances, and areas of improved performance.
5. Work closely with the property management team to provide accurate financial information and assist with contract review and fiscal management.
6. Ensure compliance with all internal policies, relevant regulations, and accounting principles.
7. Implement and monitor internal financial controls, including policies and procedures, to mitigate risk and enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results.
8. Utilize financial data to improve profitability, provide recommendations and implement agreed changes.
9. Lead and manage special projects as assigned by upper management, and provide leadership and support to the accounting team.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA or advanced degree is a plus.
2. A minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably within the commercial real estate industry.
3. Proficient in using MRI and RealPage or similar property management/accounting software.
4. Solid knowledge of CAM reconciliations, monthly reporting, financials, year-end procedures, commercial and retail accounting.
5. Strong understanding of accounting principles and regulations, with experience in real estate and property management accounting.
6. Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to create financial reports and conduct cost analyses.
7. Strong problem-solving skills, with a proactive mindset to anticipate and resolve issues.
8. Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
9. Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with all levels of the organization.
10. Demonstrated leadership abilities, with a commitment to drive and achieve results in a team-oriented environment.
