Job Summary:
As an Assistant Controller at our client], you will play a crucial role in managing the financial operations of the company. You will work closely with the Controller and the finance team to ensure accurate financial reporting, compliance with regulations, and the efficient management of financial resources. The successful candidate will possess a strong background in accounting and finance, as well as experience within the construction industry.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting:
Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
Maintain financial records and ensure their accuracy and completeness.
Assist in the preparation of year-end financial statements and collaborate with external auditors.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
Participate in the annual budgeting process, working closely with department heads to establish financial targets and monitor performance against the budget.
Prepare financial forecasts to support the company's strategic planning and decision-making.
Compliance and Taxation:
Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards and regulations, including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Assist in managing the company's tax filings, ensuring timely and accurate submissions.
Cost Analysis and Control:
Monitor and analyze project costs to ensure projects are within budget and highlight any cost overruns or discrepancies.
Collaborate with project managers to control expenses and optimize cost-efficiency.
Cash Management:
Manage cash flow, including daily monitoring of cash balances, cash disbursements, and cash receipts.
Implement cash management strategies to optimize working capital.
Team Collaboration:
Work closely with the Controller and finance team to ensure seamless financial operations.
Provide support and guidance to the accounting and finance staff, helping them grow and develop their skills.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA certification is a plus.
Proven experience in accounting and financial management, preferably within the construction industry.
Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
Proficiency in financial software and systems, such as QuickBooks, ERP systems, or similar tools.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Detail-oriented, organized, and able to meet tight deadlines.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
