We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Permanent Assistant Controller to join our team in the Mortgage industry. This role is vital in supporting our financial operations, ensuring our accounting practices adhere to the highest standards. You will be responsible for assisting in the preparation of financial statements and reports, performing financial analysis, and providing valuable recommendations to management. This role also involves managing the month-end close process, assisting with budgeting and forecasting, and supervising accounting staff. Responsibilities:

1. Assist in the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements and reports, ensuring all financial reporting deadlines are met.
2. Perform detailed financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and potential issues. Provide insightful recommendations to management based on your findings.
3. Ensure compliance with all accounting standards and regulations, staying abreast of any changes in laws and regulations that may impact financial reporting.
4. Manage the month-end close process, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded and reconciled.
5. Assist with budgeting and forecasting, providing accurate and timely data to support strategic decision-making.
6. Supervise accounting staff, providing training, support, and guidance as needed. Foster a supportive and collaborative team environment.
7. Assist with audits and other financial projects as needed, ensuring all required documentation is prepared and available for review.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required. A CPA or CMA designation is considered an asset.
2. Minimum of 5+ years of accounting experience
3. Solid understanding of accounting principles, financial statements, and financial analysis techniques.
4. Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
5. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
6. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
7. Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, meeting tight deadlines.
8. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex financial information in an understandable manner.
9. Demonstrated leadership skills with experience in supervising and training staff.
