Job Details

As part of our award-winning Real Estate group, you will:

  • Provide legal counsel on a diverse array of real estate transactions involving commercial, office, retail, industrial, residential, recreational, and mixed-use developments
  • Draft, negotiate, and review key legal documents including purchase and sale agreements, leases (including financeable ground leases), development agreements, easements, and loan documentation
  • Advise private and public clients on land acquisition, site development, entitlement, leasing, and construction
  • Navigate municipal incorporation, annexation, subdivision, zoning, and land use planning matters
  • Assist clients in securing tax incentive programs and obtaining public agency approvals
  • Handle complex real estate financing transactions, including construction loans, permanent financing, and land development loan restructures
  • Represent clients before planning and zoning boards and manage development approvals
  • Stay informed on Utah real estate laws, permitting processes, and industry trends
  • (Preferred) Assist in structuring ownership entities (LLCs, REITs, joint ventures) and advising on tax-efficient real estate transactions

Looking For:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) and active license to practice law in Utah
  • 3+ years of experience in real estate law, specifically focused on commercial real estate development
  • Demonstrated expertise advising on land acquisition, contract negotiation, leasing (including ground leases), development, financing, and construction
  • Direct experience representing clients before zoning, planning, and licensing boards
  • Deep understanding of zoning laws, land use planning, subdivision, annexation, and municipal incorporation
  • Proven ability to manage complex development approval processes and secure governmental entitlements
  • Strong drafting skills for development agreements, leases, financing documents, and other transactional real estate instruments
  • (Preferred) Familiarity with tax structuring of real estate transactions and ownership entity formation (e.g., LLCs, partnerships, REITs)
