Job Details
- Provide legal counsel and support to K-12 schools and community colleges on a variety of litigation matters.
- Handle civil defense litigation, including all phases from initiation through resolution, such as drafting and arguing motions, and taking/defending depositions.
- Represent clients in court proceedings, including hearings, trials, and mediations.
- Advise and guide clients through legal challenges involving public contracting, disputes, and other public entity-related matters.
- Conduct legal research, draft legal memoranda, opinions, and briefs.
- Collaborate with school administrators, board members, and other stakeholders to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Provide strategic legal advice on risk management and dispute resolution strategies.
Qualifications:
- J.D. and licenesed to practice law in CA
- Minimum of 4 civil litigation experience, ideally encompassing the full spectrum of defense litigation, including the ability to manage cases independently.
- Experience in insurance defense and public entity defense is preferred, though not required.
- Strong litigation experience, including taking depositions, drafting motions, and preparing for trials.
- A commitment to serving public education clients with professionalism, integrity, and high-quality client service.
