Audit Senior Manager (Government) - top 50 firm

We are a top 50 firm in the public accounting industry, seeking an experienced and dedicated Audit Senior Manager to join our team. The Audit Senior Manager will be primarily responsible for managing government audits and ensuring compliance with GASB regulations and GAAP. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience in audit management, preferably within the government sector.

The ideal Audit Manager or Senior Audit Manager candidate will have an active CPA and experience auditing government clients.

Responsibilities:

• Manage and oversee all aspects of government audits, ensuring compliance with GASB regulations and GAAP.
• Develop and implement audit strategies, while effectively managing staff and resources to ensure audit objectives are met.
• Review and evaluate financial risk, financial reporting, and accounting transactions processes including controls related to federal entities.
• Provide expert advice on complex accounting issues, financial reporting requirements, and audit standards.
• Foster and maintain relationships with key government stakeholders and clients, ensuring exceptional client service.
• Oversee staff, providing mentorship, guidance, and performance feedback to foster an environment of continuous learning and development.
• Drive business growth by identifying opportunities for new business and contributing to the development of marketing strategies.
• Ensure adherence to the highest standards of ethics and professional conduct.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. An advanced degree or professional certification (CPA, CIA, CISA, etc.) is highly preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in auditing, with a focus on government audits.
• Proven experience in managing staff and overseeing large-scale audits.
• In-depth knowledge of GASB regulations and GAAP.
• Exceptional analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.
• Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with clients and stakeholders.
• Proficient in audit software and Microsoft Office Suite.
