Job Details

The Chief Finance Officer is responsible for managing the general accounting and finance functions of the Company and will provide information, primarily financial in nature, about all activities that will assist management, ownership, and other users in making educated economic decisions.

The Director position will need to rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. The position requires effective leadership to maximize the return on financial assets by establishing and maintaining financial policies procedures, internal controls, and reporting systems to conform to US GAAP (General Accepted Accounting Practices).

The CFO will perform a variety of tasks including leading and directing the work of others. The Director has oversight for all aspects of the accounting functions including Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Budget Management, General Ledger, and preparation of accurate and timely financial statements and reporting.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Accountable for ensuring that policies, procedures (internal controls and segregation of duties), and systems are in place to provide reasonable
assurance that the company assets are protected.
  • Establish and maintain controls that verify the integrity of the accounting system, processes, and data to enhance the company’s value.
  • Direct oversight for the activities of the Accounting Department for the accurate and timely dissemination of financial management reports
including, but not limited to, internal and external monthly financial statements, audits, and budgets.
  • Responsible for establishing appropriate controls, and processes as well as the accurate and timely processing of:
  • The activities of the Accounts Payable functions.
  • The activities of the Accounts Receivable functions.
  • Responsible for the accuracy and reporting of all bank funding service requirements.
  • The activities associated with General Ledger and preparation of financial statements and reporting for multiple entities.
  • Ensures that company financial records are maintained in compliance with company policies and GAAP. Responsible for reviewing
monthly/quarterly/annual account reconciliation and other documents to ensure compliance.
  • Prepare monthly financial binder for ownership.
  • Prepare and manage the annual review of the combined financials of four companies.
  • Supervise the preparation of crop reporting by block.
  • Close out crop accounting for each crop in a timely manner after harvest.
  • Quarterly financial reporting to banks and other agencies as required.
  • Resolve any positive pay exceptions.
  • Provide supporting information and assist in cash tracking.
  • Detailed review of weekly check runs.
  • Reconcile bank accounts for multiple company accounts.
  • Plan Administrator of company 401K plan.
  • Maintain and manage all insurances including crop insurance, claims, and specialty insurance.
  • Supervise property tax including fixed asset organization
  • Supervise the reporting to several federal, state, and industry agencies.
  • Work with the Director of Human Resources to analyze the cost of worker's compensation policies.
  • Administrator of Famous ERP System.
  • Manage various government grants and industry programs.
  • Manage and supervise various administrative functions with outside parties.
  • Work with the Director of Human Resources to analyze the cost of annual benefit renewals.
  • Point of contact for network problems and administration.
  • Focus on continuous improvement and process enhancement.

Qualifications
  • Undergraduate degree in accounting from an accredited institution.
  • Five or more years of experience in leading and managing the accounting function in a medium to large farming company. Public accounting
management experience accepted.
  • Five years or more of experience in managing automated and integrated accounting software systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to form, lead and develop high-performing teams.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented person.
  • Process oriented
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departmental functions.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills are mandatory.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate effectively across the organization in verbal and written form.
  • Experience in analyzing business performance and developing financial plans to meet Company’s objectives.
  • Experience in working and routinely communicating with executive-level management on Company initiatives both financial and non-financial.
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting, is required.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including the ability to link, perform VLOOKUPs, utilize complex formulas, and pivot tables.
  • Strong Microsoft Word skills.
  • Deadline oriented.
