Job Details

Scope of Responsibilities

  • Performs routine extraction of drugs from biological samples for development, validation, and sample analysis projects. Requires proper use of calibrators, controls, and internal standards. Properly uses analytical equipment to accomplish work objectives.
  • Performs routine instrument functions for bioanalytical analysis, including accurate placement/verification of sample vials and creating accurate sequence file. Applies advanced technologies (mass spectrometry, robotics, and automation, etc.) as directed by manager.
  • May perform initial reviews of analytical data for acceptability of calibration, control values, chromatography, and quantitative limits.
  • Actively participates in training sessions related to job functions.
  • Supports and leads chemists in sample preparation, instrumental analysis, calculations, reporting, and other chemistry techniques
  • Prepares reagents, solutions, and QCs as needed to complete routine assignments.
  • Properly documents all work in real-time.
  • Maintains equipment, lab benches, and hoods in a clean, organized fashion. Performs limited maintenance on advanced instrumentation, including tuning, calibrating, cleaning, etc. Documents maintenance and calibration as required.
  • Assists in the troubleshooting of equipment and methods.
  • Follows all SOPs, safety and security polices and prescribed GLP and bioanalytical division practices; use SOP manual as reference to support work performed. Completes all necessary paperwork related to job duties.
  • Effectively communicates with team members and management regarding work-related issues. Notifies appropriate management of problems or delays, potential hazards, instrument malfunction, or inventory shortages or discrepancies.
  • Supports and leads project updates by providing effective communication to clients as necessary.
  • Actively participates in process improvements to increase equipment utilization and sample processing efficiencies.
  • Maintains organized work area. Maintains supplies and reagents associated with job assignments.
  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications and specific skills
  • BS in chemistry, biology, or specific technical field
  • Knowledge in instrumental analysis including mass spectrometry, and chromatography
  • General analytical laboratory skills including, but not limited to the use of centrifuges, pipettes, balances, etc.
  • Ability to perform and apply basic laboratory math


Qualifications and specific skills continued
  • General knowledge of current industry guidance and regulations (GLPs) for pharmaceutical studies
  • Requires basic computer skills, including, but not limited to Windows, Microsoft Office.
  • Requires strong oral and written communication skills and attention to detail
  • Displays a professional attitude at all times and exhibits ownership of delegated tasks
