Controller/Accounting Manager
We’re looking for a hands-on Controller/Accounting Manager to lead the financial operations of our rapidly growing and technically diverse organization. This role will oversee accounting functions, financial planning and analysis, and compliance, while supporting both our R&D and commercialization efforts. The ideal candidate will bring experience in a small to mid-sized business—preferably within government contracting or advanced manufacturing—and have the leadership skills to build scalable processes that match our company’s growth trajectory.
Responsibilities
Lead all accounting operations including month-end close, general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, and payroll
Maintain and improve internal controls, accounting policies, and compliance with GAAP and applicable government regulations (e.g., FAR, DFARS)
Develop financial models, forecasts, and performance reports to support strategic decision-making and business planning
Partner with division and program leaders to support budgeting, pricing, and project cost tracking
Oversee DCAA-compliant accounting practices and support audit readiness
Manage relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, and financial institutions
Guide and mentor finance staff while implementing systems and processes to support scale
Provide leadership for ERP system management and enhancements
Support funding proposals, government cost reports, and other financial documentation for R&D contracts
Assist in evaluating new commercial opportunities from a financial and operational perspective
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CMA preferred)
8+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience; at least 2 years in a controller or senior accounting role
Experience in a government contracting, high-tech, or R&D-focused environment strongly preferred
Proficient in financial systems (ERP experience preferred) and Excel modeling
Strong communication and leadership skills with a roll-up-your-sleeves attitude
Experience in scaling finance operations and supporting company growth
