Job Details

The Controller will be responsible for all aspects of the company's accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, payroll, journal entries, month-end close, job cost accounting, financial reporting, budgeting & forecasting, and strategic financial guidance. Additionally, the Accounting Controller will oversee the human resources and administrative functions of the business, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and execute the daily operations of the accounting department, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, payroll, and general ledger.
  • Prepare and review journal entries, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
  • Lead the month-end close process, including the preparation of financial statements and reports.
  • Conduct job cost accounting and analysis to ensure accurate project costing and profitability.
  • Develop and maintain financial reporting systems to provide timely and accurate financial information to management.
  • Oversee the preparation and filing of tax returns and other regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Manage cash flow and forecasting to ensure adequate liquidity for the company's operations.
  • Coordinate and support the annual audit process, including the preparation of audit schedules and responding to auditor inquiries.
  • Oversee human resources functions, including employee onboarding, benefits administration, and compliance with labor laws and regulations.
  • Manage administrative functions, including office management, vendor management, and procurement of office supplies and equipment.
  • Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the integrity of financial data.
  • Collaborate with other departments to support business operations and strategic initiatives.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in accounting, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
  • Experience in the architecture, construction, or engineering industry is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and project or job costing.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite. Experienced with Deltek highly preferred.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
