Job Details
Purpose - Develop, maintain, and troubleshoot automated process control systems.
Accountable for
Analysis of Process Data to Support Existing Control Systems and Continuous Improvement Projects

Sole responsibility within delegated authority; shared responsibility must seek approval for area outside of authority

Internal
Must have strong leadership and communication skills. Design of automation control software to meet product specifications while minimizing production problems and costs. Must be able to manage multiple tasks and priorities. Knowledge and troubleshooting of process control computer hardware and software including equipment such as: PLC’s, VME based systems, personal computers, network and communications equipment, and computer software. Must be willing to continue learning automation concepts to continuously improve skill set.
- Understanding of Complex Automated Process Control Systems for Rolling Mills
- Interface Daily with the Operating Departments, Operators, Maintenance Engineers and Craft Personnel
- Process Analysis, Process Data Analysis, and Troubleshooting are Key to Achievement of Departmental Goals and Continuous Improvement
- Process automation development, improvements, and troubleshooting.
- Must be able to work both independently and as part of multidiscipline teams
- Serves as lead automation engineer for one or more key company assets

Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Computer Science
- 5 Years’ Experience in Automated Systems Control Programming
- 5 Years’ Experience in Design of Control Systems
- 5 Years’ Experience in Discrete Logic System
- Knowledge of Troubleshooting Methods and Operations Processing Interface
- Experience with automation aspects in commissioning of large capital projects
