Cost Accountant

Our client is a chemical manufacturing company that produces a range of high-quality chemical products used in various industries, including agriculture, healthcare, and manufacturing.

Ideal candidate should have:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
• 3-5 years of experience in cost accounting for a manufacturing company, preferably in the chemical industry.
• Strong analytical skills and knowledge of standard costing and other cost accounting methods.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with ERP systems and other accounting software.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.

The cost accountant will be responsible for managing the company’s cost accounting system and processes. The ideal candidate will have experience with standard costing and other cost accounting methods, and should be able to analyze and report on production costs, material costs, and overhead expenses. The cost accountant will work closely with the production and purchasing departments to ensure accurate tracking of inventory and cost of goods sold.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain the company’s cost accounting system, including setting up new accounts, updating existing accounts, and reviewing cost reports.
• Work with the production team to ensure accurate tracking of inventory levels and expenses related to production.
• Analyze production costs and recommend strategies for cost reduction and efficiency improvements.
• Provide support and guidance to purchasing team in tracking and analyzing material costs.
• Prepare and distribute monthly, quarterly, and annual cost reports.
• Provide variance analysis and detailed explanations of actual versus budgeted costs.
• Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and periodic forecasts.
• Participate in internal audits and ensure compliance with GAAP and other accounting standards.
