CPS Initial Assessment Social Worker, Manitowoc

The Human Services Department is to promote a healthy community by providing services that strengthen and empower individuals and families. The Department provides an extensive array of social services, financial benefits and rehabilitation to statutorily designated groups of the county's residents. The agency serves approximately 5,000 clients per year. The Department is organized into four divisions: Business Operations, Children & Families, Clinical Services, and Economic Support.

We have an immediate and valuable position with the department. The CPS Initial Assessment Social Worker will have very good communications skills (both verbal and written), the ability to engage with children and adults, build rapport, and show compassion for the individuals.. The primary responsibilities are as follows:

* Interview clients, collaterals, resource people, and referral sources
* Observe home conditions and completes safety assessments
* Create a safety plan when necessary
* Determine whether or not to remove the child from the home
* If the decision is to remove the child from the home, determine appropriate care for child

The primary requirements for the position is as follows:
* Bachelor's Degree in Social Work or equivalent
* Certification by the State of Wisconsin as a Social Worker
* Certification must be obtained within six months from the date of hire
* Wisconsin Driver's license is required
