Job Details

Position Summary:
The Director/Finance Manager will support and execute the financial strategies of the Family Office to maximize wealth preservation and creation. The Director/Financial Manager is directly responsible for financial analysis and planning, forecasting, investment evaluations, analysis and due diligence, and offering insights and advice that will allow management to make informed business and investment decisions. The Director/Financial Manager will also assist in tax, wealth and estate planning of the family members.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Analyze, strategize, and advise on investment opportunities to ensure effective underwriting, optimize current/new investment assets (real property, operating businesses and publicly traded assets).
  • Collect, interpret, and report on consolidated financial/portfolio information and market trends; review and verify portfolio-wide performance metrics, calculations, and benchmarks.
  • Generate and present financial modeling, forecasting and data analysis to support strategic decision-making with respect to individual assets and investments, as well as on a category or consolidated basis.
  • Prepare analyses to support investment authorization processes within family office investment review meetings.
  • Enable investment execution by supporting the purchase of properties/assets, and providing investment and project analysis, forecasts and validation of plans.
  • Evaluate and report on family office finances, including loans and debt terms; assist in the establishment of lines of credit.
  • Generate and coordinate annual budgets; periodically track and report progress against annual budget to Family Office leadership.
  • Develop strategies to minimize financial risk and maximize returns on investments based on parameters set by the Family and family office leadership.
  • Control risk exposure by procuring and maintaining optimal property and casualty insurance policies for individual real properties and other Family business and personal assets.
  • Minimize property taxes through ongoing market valuations and property tax appeal process.
  • Coordinate with the controller to ensure compliance with accounting system controls and regulatory requirements, including serve as backup for certain accounting tasks assigned.
  • Manage relationships with multiple third-party investment advisors for marketable securities; periodically review performance and identify departures from agreed-upon investment strategy/allocation.
  • Build, maintain, and verify management and fee calculations for all external investment managers; work with legal department to confirm agreed-upon terms; work with Family Office investment team to corroborate amounts and explain/document any variances.
  • Effectively partner and communicate with operating company to insure coordination with Family Office planning and objectives.
  • Perform other finance or accounting related tasks assigned.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting
  • 5+ years of industry experience (e.g., finance/accounting department of family office, investment manager, investment bank, or public accounting firm focusing on wealth and asset management clients)
  • Advanced to Expert level proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups and advanced formula utilization) as well as other Microsoft Office applications
  • Proven market research skills and ability to synthesize large quantities of complex data into actionable information
  • Excellent business judgment, analytical, and decision-making skills
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Willingness to work flexible hours to meet deadlines


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s Degree
  • Professional accreditation a plus (e.g. CPA, CFA, CFP)
  • Real estate industry experience
