Job Details

This role has responsibility to drive strategic growth and provide technical direction for landscape architecture and planning within the Site Solutions business unit. Projects are primarily located in the southeastern states and include parks and recreation, urban design, housing, town centers, streetscapes, greenways, trails, higher education, and commercial projects.

Leadership and Growth
  • Serve as a member of the Site Solutions Business Unit leadership team
  • Execute strategic business planning, implementation activities, and recommend course corrections, as needed
  • Works directly with Business Unit team, other internal units, and Client Service Leaders to market and grow the Landscape Architecture and Planning practice
  • Works with LA/P staff as well as other disciplines within the Business Unit on the development of proposals
  • Works with the business unit's Director of Quality to manage development and implementation of Corporate and Business Unit initiatives
  • Works with the business unit's Director of Projects to ensure there is engagement of Subject Matter Specialists and assignment of the best fit Project Manager in the scoping and production phases of projects
  • Incorporates an emphasis on design quality and technical excellence
  • May serve as the Principal-in-Charge for multiple clients/projects

Financial Management
  • Prepares the group's annual business plan and monitors Landscape Architecture and Planning sales and operational performance versus plan and takes proactive steps to achieve plan
  • Assists in Annual Business Planning process and regular revenue forecasting
  • Supports review of requested hires and impact to business plan and goals

Staff Management
  • Leads and facilitates a collaborative work environment and advances initiatives that support a positive workplace culture
  • Sets clear expectations and actions to be incorporated into employees' annual performance goals
  • Works with Business Unit team, Project Managers and Supervisors to ensure staff are meeting utilization and billable rate goals
  • Evaluates and plans for staff development needs


Education & Experience Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Landscape Architecture, Planning, or Urban Design from an accredited program
  • Master's Degree in Landscape Architecture, Planning, or Urban Design, a plus
  • Minimum of 15 years of relevant experience
  • A broad range of experience is desired including master planning, detailed design, public engagement, technical design, financial engagement, mentoring, staff engagement, and high-quality graphics
  • Professional Landscape Architect (PLA) license and/or AICP certification, required
  • Solid leadership, team building, and communication skills
  • Ability to travel between offices and project sites
  • Ability to create a shared vision and direction with stakeholders
  • Solid understanding of marketing and strategic sales to meet growth plans
  • Demonstrated professional writing ability
  • Ability to make sound business decisions guided by the Business Unit and firm strategy
