Job Details

Austin based global life insurance company is seeking a Director of Legal that will work closely with Chief Legal Officer and other C-Suite executives on legal strategy and objectives.
This position offers a unique opportunity to work in a fast-paced, challenging, and exciting environment, where your contributions will have a direct impact on the company's success.

Responsibilities:

Provide support for SEC filings and insurance regulatory filings, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
Draft, review, and negotiate a wide variety of contracts, including vendor agreements, partnership agreements, and customer agreements.
Advise the executive team on legal risks and implications of strategic decisions.
Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure the company's legal compliance.
Manage and coordinate all legal matters involving the company, including litigation, regulatory inquiries, and audits.
Work closely with external legal counsel and manage relationships with regulatory bodies.
Provide training to company staff on legal matters, such as contract law, data protection, and corporate governance.

Qualifications:

Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school. Active TX or CO bar license.
A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in law firm or with a publicly traded company, ideally in the insurance industry.
Strong knowledge of SEC filings, insurance regulatory filings, and contract law.
Excellent negotiation skills, with a track record of successfully negotiating complex agreements.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make sound legal judgments.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal concepts in a clear and understandable way.
High level of integrity and professionalism, with the ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a proactive and results-oriented approach to work.
