Job Title: Director of Operations/Plant Manager
Location: Janesville, WI (on-site – will pay for relocation)
Target Salary: $190-225k – depending on experience + bonus


Must be very knowledgeable about making confectionery manufacturing, particularly with hard candies (not chocolate). Also, good experience at building teams and developing cross functional support.

SUMMARY
Directs, administers, and coordinates the activities of all production and operation support functions in support of policies, goals, and objectives as outlined in the Company strategic plan. Performs the following duties personally or through subordinate managers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Guides and directs management in the development and production aspects of the organization’s products and services.
  • Directs the preparation of short-term and long-range plans and budgets based on Company goals and growth objectives for production.
  • Directs company’s commitment to food safety and continuous improvement.
  • Creates the structure and processes necessary to manage the Company’s current production and operational support activities and its projected growth.
  • Maintains a sound plan of the production organization, establishing policies to ensure adequate management.
  • Develops and installs procedures and controls to promote communication and adequate information flows.
  • Established operating policies consistent with the Company’s objectives and ensures their execution.
  • Evaluates the results of overall operations regularly and systematically; reports these results to other division heads as needed.
  • Ensures the responsibilities, authorities and accountability of all direct subordinates are defined and understood.
  • Ensure that all organization activities and operations are carr4eid out in compliance with local, state and federal regulations and laws governing business operations.
  • Demonstrates commitment to food safety and continuous improvement.
  • Required to attend initial and annual training for GMP, HACCP, SQF and Food Defense.
o Must be able to successfully demonstrate knowledge to the above topics and adherence to current Good Manufacturing practices.
  • All other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervises managers in the Production, Engineering, Purchasing, Scheduling, and Shipping / Receiving departments. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelors Degree (B.S.) from four-year college or university; or 10 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

COMPUTER SKILLS, CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office with proficiency in Word, Excel and Powerpoint. Ability to learn other application software essential to performing job tasks.
