As a Director of Public Works, you will be at the helm of a dynamic and diverse team, tasked with overseeing and managing strategic operations related to public works and infrastructure. This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned professional to contribute to the growth, development, and sustainability of our city. You will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of public infrastructure, including water, sewer, storm drain, and street plans. In addition, you will lead the planning and execution of capital improvement projects and DIF programs. This role requires a seasoned professional with a strong background in civil engineering, land use planning, and utility engineering.

Responsibilities:

1. Oversee and manage the operations and maintenance of the city's public infrastructure, including water, sewer, storm drain, and street plans.
2. Plan and execute capital improvement projects and DIF programs.
3. Coordinate with city, county, and Caltrans officials to ensure compliance with all regulations and standards.
4. Utilize AutoCAD and Civil 3D to design and implement infrastructure projects.
5. Implement protocols for geospatial mapping, land planning, and utility locating.
6. Develop and manage the city’s CFD programs.
7. Oversee the public bid process, ensuring transparency and fairness.
8. Manage the surveying and mapping of city lands for future development projects.
9. Develop and implement strategies for site development and land use planning.
10. Lead a team of civil engineers, surveyors, and other professionals, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Public Administration, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
2. A minimum of 5 years of experience in public works, civil engineering, capital improvements, DIF programs, CFD, public infrastructure.
3. Extensive knowledge of city, county, and Caltrans regulations and standards.
4. Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and other related software.
5. Experience in geospatial mapping, land planning, utility locating, site development, utility engineering, surveying, and mapping.
6. Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage a diverse team.
7. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical information to a variety of audiences.
8. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
9. Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred.
10. Experience in land use planning and right of way acquisition is a plus.
