Job Details

To be a successful Field Engineer with our team we require the following background:

  • Experience with project cost management
  • Experience and the ability to communicate with project owners
  • A valid Driver's License
  • Experience leading a team
  • Knowledge of large heavy civil construction projects
  • Ability to read and understand construction plans

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Mentors and leads inspections and orientations, identifies hazards and corrections, and leads by example for health and safety practices and procedures.
  • Coordinates with superintendent on workforce planning.
  • Maintains project document control and procedures. Supports project engineers and/or superintendents to lead trade contractors, including requests for information (RFIs), shop drawings, changes, and billings.
  • Participates in the supervision of self-perform scopes, including resolving crew sizes, labor tracking, and quantity tracking for Labor Cost Reports (LCRs).
  • Mentors and coaches field engineers and students/interns).
  • Identifies issues on-site or in defined work scopes.
  • Coordinates third-party inspections and site reviews.
  • Participates in crafting, implementing, and supervising quality plan, Inspection and Test Plan (ITP).
  • Develop and maintains positive relationships focusing on all partners.

Qualifications

  • Associate or bachelor's degree in a related field: construction management, engineering, architecture preferred, or equivalent experience.
  • 8-12 months of varied experience as field engineer/coordinator preferred; time acquired during internships in the field may count as experience.
  • Knowledge of heavy civil construction specifications, and methods and procedures (e.g., formwork methodologies, self-perform work, subcontracted work scopes, temporary work, equipment, and scheduling techniques).
  • Understands and applies construction principles to problem solve.
  • Effective verbal and written communication with supervisors and subcontractors, and reports.
  • Proven track record to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Writes clear technical communication to trade contractors, designers and inspectors.
  • Develops and maintains effective partner relationships.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Word Processing software; Spreadsheet software; Viewpoint project management software.
