Job Details

The Finance Manager reports to the Vice President of Finance and is a member of the Finance Department. The position is responsible for the management of the team of Financial Analysts and performing analysis, forecasting, budgeting, and treasury duties including but not limited to performing the key functions outlined below.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Manages budgeting, forecasting, analysis, and reporting.
  • Performs assessment of all reporting requirements and develops a long-term strategy for various reporting
solutions.
  • Works with the leadership team to formulate the business's medium to long-term financial plan.
  • Team with the Accounting department to ensure accurate voyage and financial reporting.
  • Provides review and analysis of the company’s revenue and margin forecasts and departmental budgets.
  • Reviews operations and recommends new productivity or cost-saving initiatives.
  • Develops and maintains budgeting and forecasting tools.
  • Provides detailed support and analysis of cash flow forecasts.
  • Develops presentations to help summarize budget results.
  • Develops and maintains financial models to support individual business segments within the organization.
  • Manages ad-hoc analysis requests as required.
  • Contributes to team effort by performing other duties as assigned and accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Drives process improvement and policy development initiatives.
  • Creates and reviews models to provide useful benchmarking and process analysis.
  • Performs other duties and projects as needed and/or assigned.

SUPERVISORY FUNCTIONS
  • Directly supervises Financial Analysts workload and activities.
  • Develops Financial Analysts’ skills and abilities for continued growth.
  • Participate in interviewing and training employees
  • Conduct and follow up on annual staff reviews and conduct disciplinary actions when necessary

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in the key functions listed above.
  • A minimum of 3 years of management experience.
  • Advance experience with Microsoft Office products and databases.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Must be able to communicate effectively, in written and oral form.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead team projects while meeting deadlines by managing priorities and workflow.
  • Ability to make timely and sound decisions while demonstrating good judgment.
  • Skilled in being flexible and able to handle changing priorities over multiple tasks, and situations.
  • Capability to self-manage and work in a team environment.
  • Experience with SQL and/or any other programing language.
  • Skilled in PowerBI and/or any other data visualization and reporting tool.
  • Knowledge SSRS is strongly preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills and problem-solving ability.
  • Self-starter, able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Proficient in financial subjects, accounting, and business environments.
  • Must enjoy a dynamic environment and be able to remain flexible and manage multiple priorities. Strong
prioritization skills and ability to balance multiple tasks successfully
  • Familiarity with the maritime and/or transportation industries is desired but not required.
