We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Forensic Structural Engineer to join our dynamic engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for investigating and assessing damage and failures related to various types of building structures. They will be tasked with conducting detailed inspections, analyzing data, and preparing comprehensive reports. This position provides an exciting opportunity to work on a variety of projects, collaborate with a team of talented engineers, and contribute to solving complex engineering problems.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough investigations of structural failures, damages, and defects related to buildings, including roof damage, water intrusion, post-fire damage, storm damage assessments, structural integrity evaluations, structural collapse, building system failures, foundation/settlement, product liability, and construction defects.
- Surveys losses at residential and commercial buildings
- Conducts investigations to determine and document the scope of damage caused by a recent acute event..
- Analyze data from investigations, including interpreting blueprints, construction documents, and using computer models to determine the cause and extent of damage or failure.
- Prepare comprehensive forensic reports, detailing findings, conclusions, and recommendations.
- Provide expert witness testimony in court when necessary.
- Collaborate with a team of engineers, architects, and other professionals on project planning and development.
- Ensure all work complies with relevant codes, standards, and regulations.
- Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and advancements in forensic structural engineering.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering required; a Master’s degree is preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in forensic structural engineering or a related field.
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) status is a must.
- Extensive knowledge of structural design and construction methods.
- Proficiency in using engineering software for structural analysis and design.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a strong attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate complex information clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Capable of working independently and collaboratively on a team.
- Willingness to travel to various sites for investigations and inspections.
- Familiarity with legal proceedings and providing expert witness testimony is a plus.
