Job Details

As Superintendent, your role will be to:
o Ensure Work Activity Plans are completed and implemented
o Conduct daily TEAM meetings and maintain safety practices and procedures on the job site
o Ensure work is checked to conform to plans and specifications
o Coordinate construction activities to include planning, scheduling, procurement of materials, equipment utilization and maintenance,
o Consistently monitor workforce to ensure employees are meeting expectations of the position from both an operational and safety standpoint
o Handle complaints and grievances, disciplinary actions, and maintain production records for use in supervision
o Mentor and develop project staff
o Ensure crew maintains professional relations with Owner, Engineer, and other members of the team
o Oversee crew to ensure project is constructed according to the approved plans and within the project schedule
o Prior to commencing work activities, develop and execute an effective plan in cooperation with the Superintendent for their area of
responsibility and determine the means and methods necessary (including individual work activities) to meet project goals
o Assure the proper operation and maintenance of equipment under their control, including appropriate applications for the respective
o Preplan and schedule grading activities daily
o Ensure all employees comply with company safety procedures; immediately correct and document any unsafe conditions
o Recognize and immediately report any requests for extra work
o Complete administrative tasks: daily electronic time sheet entries, equipment logs, progress photos
o Prepare or assist the Superintendent in the preparation of daily reports, work unit quantity reports, equipment reports, and receipt of materials
o Perform material take-offs; read and interpret plans, specifications and survey grade stakes
o Assure quality control and contract compliance of grading activity under their supervision
o High School Diploma or Equivalent
o Working knowledge of applicable standards, specifications, codes, regulations, and laws
o Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience in heavy construction preferred
o Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Grading or drainage Foreman
o Experienced on all types of heavy equipment for dirt and site projects
o Knowledgeable in the areas of dirt work, including excavation, drainage, grade work, surveying, and final excavating work
o Ability to read and understand plans and specifications, and interpret survey grade stakes
o Working knowledge of OSHA regulations
o Experience with Global Positioning System (GPS)
o Must have a valid driver’s license and meet Fleet Policy requirements
o Ability to use good judgement and be an effective decision maker
