As a Permanent Hybrid Property Accountant in the commercial real estate sector, you will be a part of a dynamic team that is responsible for managing an extensive portfolio of properties. This role is a unique blend of traditional accounting practices and real estate management. You will be directly involved in the financial management of commercial properties, including apartments, student housing, and multifamily units. This role offers a hybrid work model, allowing you to work both remotely and in our office, providing you with the flexibility to manage your work-life balance.
Responsibilities:
1. Perform general ledger (GL) and Common Area Maintenance (CAM) reconciliations for commercial properties.
2. Process monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for each property, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery.
3. Oversee the accounts receivable and payable for each property, including rent collections, vendor payments, and property expenses.
4. Prepare annual budgets and conduct monthly budget variance analyses.
5. Collaborate with property managers to ensure accurate tenant billings and lease abstracts.
6. Conduct regular financial analysis, providing insights into property performance and identifying opportunities for financial growth.
7. Assist with year-end audits and tax return preparation.
8. Stay up-to-date with industry trends and regulations to ensure compliance and optimal financial management.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
2. Minimum of 5 years of experience in property accounting, specifically in commercial real estate.
3. Proven experience with GL and CAM reconciliations.
4. Extensive knowledge of the real estate industry, particularly in managing apartments, student housing, and multifamily units.
5. Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
6. Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret financial data and provide actionable insights.
7. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a knack for building strong relationships with property managers and tenants.
8. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
9. CPA certification is a plus.
