Job Details
Responsibilities:
1. Lead and conduct audits of derivative accounting processes, ensuring compliance with applicable standards, regulations, and company policies.
2. Develop and implement audit plans, including risk assessments, audit scope, and testing procedures.
3. Evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls, identify areas of risk, and recommend improvements to enhance the control environment.
4. Review and analyze derivative transactions, including commodity derivatives, to ensure accurate accounting and reporting.
5. Prepare and present audit findings to senior management, including recommendations for improvements and corrective actions.
6. Collaborate with other departments to ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial information related to derivatives.
7. Stay abreast of changes in accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and industry trends related to derivatives.
8. Provide training and guidance to other team members on derivative accounting and auditing practices.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A CPA designation is required.
2. A minimum of three years of experience in auditing, with a focus on derivative accounting. Experience in the energy industry and public accounting is preferred.
3. In-depth knowledge of accounting principles and practices, particularly as they relate to derivatives.
4. Strong understanding of commodity derivatives and their impact on financial statements.
5. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and evaluate risks and controls.
6. Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex information to a variety of audiences.
7. Proven leadership skills, with the ability to lead and motivate a team.
8. High degree of professionalism and integrity, with the ability to handle confidential information responsibly.
9. Proficiency in using audit software and other technology tools to enhance the audit process.
10. Willingness to travel as needed to conduct audits at various company locations.
