Job Details

Responsibilities:
  • Represent clients in court or before government agencies, presenting evidence to defend or prosecute in civil litigation.
  • Prepare and draft legal documents, such as wills, deeds, patent applications, mortgages, leases, and contracts.
  • Prepare legal briefs and opinions, and file appeals in state and federal courts of appeal.
  • Conduct pretrial depositions of experts and other witnesses.
  • Interpret laws, rulings, and regulations for individuals and businesses.
  • Confer with colleagues to establish and verify basis for legal proceedings.
  • Evaluate findings and develop strategies and arguments in preparation for presentation of cases.
  • Advise clients concerning business transactions, claim liability, advisability of prosecuting or defending lawsuits, or legal rights and obligations.
  • Gather evidence to formulate defense or to initiate legal actions, by such means as interviewing clients and witnesses to ascertain the facts of a case.
  • Manage all phases of the litigation process to include discovery, trial, and appeal.
  • Use electronic discovery software to manage large volumes of electronic data produced during litigation.

Qualifications:
  • JD from an accredited law school.
  • Admitted to the Texas Bar.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience as a trial attorney or litigator, preferably within a law firm, regional firm, or national firm.
  • Proven experience in trial preparation, fact development, e-discovery, discovery, briefing, motions, and pleadings.
  • Exceptional oral advocacy and legal writing skills.
  • Previous courtroom experience is essential.
  • Prior clerkship experience is a plus.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and cases simultaneously.
  • Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a commitment to professional ethics and client confidentiality.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and legal research software.
