Job Details

The responsibilities of the Business Development Manager are to drive new architectural and Luxury Lighting business within a given geographical region of North America as defined by the Director of North American Contract Sales. This includes, but is not limited to designers (ie. architects, interior designers, lighting designers, engineers, design/build contractors, developers), end-users, third-party representatives (agents), Key Accounts and National Accounts, and other stakeholders. This role will be based in the greater LA area on a remote basis where you will work out of a home office.

Activities include:
  • Developing direct relationships with key influencers in the selection of
  • lighting on projects including but not limited to lighting designers, architects, etc.
  • Encouraging sales with third-party representatives through product training, sales calls and project follow up, rep shows, and opportunity management.
  • Pricing for budgetary requests.
  • Involvement in industry organizations such as IALD, IES, AIA, ASID at a local level.
  • Involvement with key account and national account activities from time to time as directed by management.
  • Communicating quarter-over-quarter reports on anticipated project closings and the dollar value and products associated with them.
  • Manage activities to an annual budget for travel and expenses incurred.

Skills required:
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • The ability to communicate information, whether technical or non-technical to staff members and customers, in a clear and concise manner.
  • Strong understanding of lighting terms, architectural terms, and the ability to read construction drawings and documents.
  • Technical skills required to understand and propose products or solutions by focusing on client requirements.
  • BS or BA degree plus at least 5 years proven track record in business sales or related markets desired.
  • Excellent organization skills, with emphasis on timeliness, priorities, and goal setting.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Mac user preferred.
  • Ability to travel and manage a travel calendar.
  • Ability to work effectively from a home office
