Job Details
This position will supervise and coordinate a team of machine operators with a focus on maintaining consistent productivity over the shift, Maintain the Quality of the Product, and Following Safety Procedures to achieve this goal. The Supervisor must have a well-rounded knowledge of machine shop procedures, including machine tool setup, operating techniques, production machining methods, and pre and post-inspection processes.
Responsibilities include monitoring in-process quality to ensure defects are not passed onto the next operation and consistently maintaining a high level of quality in the finished product. The Supervisor must also be a strong trainer and leader that can promote a positive environment and build strong team cohesion while maintaining accountability.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
o Performs activities of workers supervised
o Analyzes job scope and engineering prints to determine information such as material to be used, type of operations and sequence of operations
required
o Maintains time and production records and assigns tasks based on production requirements
o Process all work orders, which includes developing manufacturing methods, ordering materials, and programming.
o Setup and trouble shoot machine operation
o Inspect Bill of Material and Job Orders for completeness
o Demonstrate continuous effort to improve efficiency while working cooperatively with other team members.
o Responsible for the quality of components produced or modified within the machine shop
o Provide technical assistance as needed.
o Prepare and participate in physical inventory when required.
Education and/or Experience:
o High school diploma required. Bachelor’s preferred or years of experience equivalent to a degree
o 7-10 years CNC machining and programming experience
o Ability to read documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
o Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with supervisor and co-workers
o Competent with more advanced operations or production processes
o Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's
o Perform operations using units of weight measurement, volume, and distance
o Ability to calculate with the use of fractions and/or decimal system
o Ability to read and understand drawings and prints
o Define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
o Able deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
o Train and mentor others
o Formal training in machine operation or programming preferred
