Responsibilities:
Qualifications:
- Performs mammography and other breast imaging procedures and/or DXA exams.
- Performs and documents patient assessment / history related to procedures and provides patient care to meet patients’ physical and psychological needs. Records all patient, procedure, history and film information accurately.
- Assists radiologists to perform image-guided diagnostic and interventional procedures (e.g. stereotactic biopsy, needle localizations, galactograms, ultrasound guided procedures).
- Communicates with other caregivers to ensure quality, continuity and appropriateness of patient care.
- Provides patient and family education related to imaging procedures. Reviews hand-out material.
- Applies knowledge and principles of radiation protection to achieve radiation exposures ALARA (as low as reasonably achievable) for patients, self and others.
- Applies knowledge and principles of Universal Precautions, aseptic and sterile techniques, to minimize exposure to / spread of infectious organisms.
- Required to dispose of biohazard waste according to OSHA standards. Practices OSHA safety standards.
Qualifications:
- Graduate of a school of Radiologic Technology, registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
- Advanced practice Mammography certification required.
- Three years of mammography experience.
- Familiarity with ACR / FDA accreditation practices and regulations required.
- Ability to accurately position the patient for imaging according to ACR standards.
- Utilize techniques to physically manipulate and apply accessories to produce desired images.
- Ability to select technical factors and operate imaging equipment to produce quality diagnostic images.
