Are you passionate about logistics and have a knack for strategic planning and coordination? We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Materials Planner to join our fast-paced manufacturing team. As a Materials Planner, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our supply chain and production processes. Your primary responsibility will be to manage and optimize inventory, place purchase orders, eliminate part shortages, and maintain appropriate stocking volumes. You will also be forecasting materials, communicating with suppliers, and working closely with our buyers. This position requires a minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role.
Responsibilities:
1. Develop and manage a strategic materials planning system to meet production requirements and maintain optimal inventory levels.
2. Place purchase orders with suppliers, ensuring timely delivery of materials and components.
3. Monitor and eliminate part shortages to prevent production delays and ensure uninterrupted workflow.
4. Maintain appropriate stocking volumes, considering production schedules, lead times, and demand forecasts.
5. Forecast materials needs based on historical data, sales trends, and production plans.
6. Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, negotiating contracts and resolving delivery and quality issues.
7. Collaborate with buyers to ensure alignment between materials planning and purchasing strategies.
8. Continually assess and improve materials planning processes to increase efficiency and accuracy.
9. Prepare and present regular reports on materials planning performance and metrics.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, logistics, business administration, or a related field.
2. Minimum of 2 years of experience in materials planning, purchasing, or a related role in the manufacturing industry.
3. Strong understanding of supply chain processes and inventory management principles.
4. Proficient in using materials planning software and other relevant computer applications.
5. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to negotiate with suppliers and collaborate with team members.
6. Strong analytical skills, with the ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make accurate forecasts.
7. Detail-oriented, with strong organizational and planning skills.
8. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
9. Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and practices would be an advantage.
