Job Details

A Mechanical Engineer in the MEP (Mechanical/Electrical/Plumbing) Practice shall provide ventilation, heating/cooling, exhaust, ductwork and natural gas/propane distribution designs. This position reports directly to a Project Manager or Principal of the Practice Area. Project types include:

  • Municipal (police, fire and public works facilities)
  • Park District (recreation centers, pools & maintenance buildings)
  • Apartments, Senior living and mixed-use facilities
  • Restaurants & entertainment
  • Gas stations, C-stores and retail
  • Offices and warehouses
  • Healthcare facilities

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Produce/maintain design drawings & specifications from schematic design through construction administration
  • Conduct field surveys and construction observation
  • Engage with clients and staff in order to manage and coordinate scope and schedule

Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit proficiency a plus
  • Proficient in MS Word and Excel

Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering is preferred, but not required
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience designing HVAC systems
  • Familiarity with building codes (IMC, Fuel Gas Code, IECC)
  • PE licensure is a plus
