The role of the relief supervisor entails offering essential guidance to oversee all elements of a shift. This position holds the responsibility for orchestrating safety, excellence, efficiency, ongoing enhancement, and dependability for their designated team. The incumbent should adeptly manage the union workforce within the framework of the collective bargaining agreement.

The relief supervisor should possess conflict resolution aptitude to effectively furnish the leadership essential for recognizing and addressing challenges. They must display a readiness and capability to operate autonomously and spearhead the process of pinpointing underlying issues and enacting corrective measures, as necessary.

Adaptability is crucial for the relief supervisor, as they need to accommodate various schedules, including daytime, nighttime, and weekend shifts on rotations lasting 8 or 12 hours, while supervising a team of 10-12 hourly crew members.
