A bit about us:

The Network Engineer will be responsible for integration (product and network), interconnection and maintenance of microwave linked networks with an emphasis on high availability and security. Work with a back-office group who will support the system remotely 24/7. The network sites range from mountain tops to data centers, all of which need remote and onsite work
Specific Responsibilities
  • Maintain all core network systems
  • Maintain firewall systems and access control lists to protect the integrity and security of the MAN, wireless modem, and direct line networks
  • Test, implement, and maintain high availability network solutions utilizing technologies such as load balancing and fault tolerance
  • Test, implement, and maintain connectivity solutions between corporate data customers, the headend, and the backbone circuits
  • Lead network system planning and testing
  • Provide customer support and evaluate customer product and network requirements to generate test and deployment plans
  • Assist customers with modem issues when necessary. This involves travel to

Job Details

Experience and Education
  • A minimum of five years of experience in the analysis, integration, planning, implementation, and support of network circuits and WAN/LAN infrastructure
  • A minimum of three years with HP/Cisco routers, configuration, and support
  • A minimum of one year experience with ISP support technology
  • Engineering, computer science or other technical degree (BS/MS), or equivalent training and experience are recommended
  • Experience in Wireless technology
  • Ability to deal with high places and climb ladders.
  • A clear understanding of TCP/IP stack
  • Understanding of layer 3 networks and VLANs
  • Understanding and experience with OSFP and BGP
Technical Skills
Experience and/or training with VPN technology, firewall configuration and maintenance and related security/authentication methods is strongly preferred
Experience deploying and support of network equipment within a widely dispersed server environment is strongly preferred
Experience in network communications, TCP/IP protocols, and routing technologies that include OSPF and BGP4, content load balancing/switching and caching is strongly preferred
Familiarity with UNIX shell and Perl scripting and Sun Server technology
Strong experience documenting network and system designs for business case analysis
