JOB OVERVIEW
This senior position is to provide technical administration and oversight of server and network-based systems to maximize reliability, performance and availability to meet business objectives. Position will be responsible for developing, administering and managing the servers and systems that provide the end-to-end delivery of IT services to our customers. Position will also provide level 2 and level 3 support for the day-to-day technical needs of the user community. The goal of this position is to enable exceptional user support by utilizing systems and services to streamline all the processes and activities to design, create, deliver, and support IT services throughout the organization.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Manages the day-to-day operations of the SCCM infrastructure by monitoring system performance, configuration, maintenance and support. Ensures the smooth delivery of IT services to the user community and validates that the landscape is maintained ensuring a secure and efficient environment. Works with vendors to assist support activities as needed.
  • Establishes procedures, guidelines and methods for the installation and management of the end user host computer operating systems and other components using the SCCM environment.
  • Develops new system and application implementation plans, custom scripts, imaging and testing procedures to ensure IT operational excellence. Trains and supports technical staff in how to use new software and hardware developed and/or acquired.
  • Provides level 2 and level 3 support and troubleshooting as required for all Microsoft Windows and Apple macOS computer users along with Apple iOS mobile devices. As such, leads problem-solving efforts often involving outside vendors and other support personnel and/or organizations.
  • Supports and administers any and all backend systems required to deliver IT services and solutions to the user community including SCCM, Azure Automation, Patch My PC and other systems.
  • Mentors and develops IT support team’s skills and capabilities enabling an efficient IT support organization.
  • Develops procedures to maintain security and protect systems from unauthorized use, acts of nature and user abuse.
  • Develops and coordinates project directions and schedules to maximize benefits and minimize impacts on the customer organizations. Provides leadership in planning and implementation of projects for computer operations and enterprise systems administration.
  • Develops tools, procedures, and training for Operations, Client Support and Systems Development staff.
  • Implements, supports and develops the audio-visual technical needs for conference rooms and auditoriums.
  • Stays current with technological developments in systems administration technology and recommends ways for CIS to take advantage of new technology.
  • Takes ownership and responsibility for tasks that are assigned and ensures that tasks are completed in a timely fashion.
  • Demonstrates consistent professional and superior customer service and interpersonal skills while showing a sense of urgency when critical technical challenges present themselves.
  • Actively participates and makes suggestions in department initiatives to improve value to the business

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)
Apple Core Technical Competencies:
  • Thorough understanding of Jamf Suite including The Jamf Portal, Jamf Admin and Jamf Composer, reporting, creating .pkg & .dmg files, building software distribution policies, and creating smart groups.
  • Thorough understanding of the macOS Recovery Partition and restoring Macs using Internet Recovery
  • Mac OS file directory structure: /Users, /Library, /Applications, /System and the role of these directories.
  • APFS format & structure
  • Common Apple Network Protocols – AFP/IP, NFS, Samba, VNC, FTP
  • Knowledge of configuring 10GB fiber connectivity to the desktop on Macs
  • LPD Printer configuration and support
  • Important Unix commands in the macOS terminal
  • Understands the role Apple Business Manager plays in the enterprise
  • Ability to manage Apple Enterprise Developer Account and assume lead role of Team Agent
  • Identify Apple product model hardware and security chipset (T2 Security Chip)
  • Ability to support and manage various centralized services including LAN-based files servers, cloud-based file services, and Jamf distribution point connecting with multiple different protocols
  • Familiarity with digital audio workstation software (DAW), Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro, PhotoShop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat Pro), font management, and other products crucial to busy print and dynamic media departments.
  • Familiarity with various video and audio formats, sample rates, A/D conversion and Apple Core Audio
  • Thorough understanding of iOS MDM (iPads/iPhones)
  • Thorough understanding of Active Directory, cloud LDAP/ADFS, Okta and other authorization technologies.
  • Advanced and skilled in networking (wired/wireless) components and interfaces
  • Able to troubleshoot complex problems while complying with the department’s policies and procedures
  • Professional, attention to detail, reasonable judgment, a sense of ownership and responsibility as well as extraordinary communication and customer service skills are imperative to the success of this position.
  • Keeps abreast of current developments and trends in relative areas of technology
  • Able to produce professional documentation for technical standards, policies and procedures
  • Able to embrace an environment that is constantly changing to meet the needs of the business

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Associates or bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience, required.
  • Minimum 5 years work experience in a corporate environment of 200 or more users.
  • Certifications such as Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE), CompTIA Server+, JAMF Certified System Administrator; helpful.
  • Experience in complex systems design, programming and systems software and support helpful.
  • Knowledge of programming and scripting languages, operating systems & performance monitoring tools
  • Ability to plan, organize and document complex systems and to configure systems to be consistent with institutional policies/procedures.
  • Performs multiple tasks concurrently and responds to emergency situations effectively.
