We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Permanent Payroll Clerk to join our dynamic team in the Construction industry. The ideal candidate will be responsible for processing payroll, verifying new hires, and maintaining payroll records. This role will play a crucial part in ensuring our employees are compensated accurately and on time. The successful candidate will have a proven track record in payroll, a keen eye for detail, and a passion for numbers.
Responsibilities:
1. Processing weekly and monthly payroll for all employees, including calculating overtime, bonuses, and deductions.
2. Verifying new hires by reviewing and validating employment forms and documents.
3. Maintaining accurate and up-to-date payroll records, including timesheets, direct deposit details, tax forms, and employee leave requests.
4. Ensuring compliance with all local, state, and federal payroll regulations and guidelines.
5. Responding to payroll-related inquiries and resolving any payroll discrepancies in a timely manner.
6. Preparing and issuing earnings statements, as well as year-end tax forms.
7. Collaborating with HR and accounting teams to ensure smooth payroll operations and accurate financial reporting.
8. Staying current with the latest payroll trends, techniques, and best practices.
Qualifications:
1. High school diploma or equivalent required. A degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is preferred.
2. Minimum of 2+ years of payroll experience, preferably within the construction industry.
3. Proficient in payroll software, as well as MS Office (especially Excel).
4. Solid understanding of accounting principles, taxation policies, and payroll procedures.
5. Excellent numerical skills and attention to detail.
6. Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
7. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
8. Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise extreme discretion.
9. Problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
10. Knowledge of construction industry regulations and labor contracts is a plus.
