Job Details

The Payroll Manager is responsible for performing, facilitating, organizing, and monitoring the payroll functions of our multi-industry, multi-state company. They will be responsible for ensuring pay is processed on time, accurately, and in compliance with government regulations. Our client consists of four divisions, specializing in commercial and petroleum construction, industrial and commercial electrical, industrial cleaning and hazardous waste disposal. Our client has operating offices in multiple states.


Knowledge, skills, and abilities Required:

A minimum of 5 years of payroll experience within the construction industry
Extensive knowledge of payroll functions including preparation, balancing and internal control.
Strong payroll and business tax knowledge, including SIT, SUI, Worker’s Comp, Federal, and other state and local wage and hour requirements.
General knowledge of accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.
2 + years’ experience dealing with all things related to Washington State Prevailing Wage.
Experience leading and supervising a team.
Advanced skills in Excel, proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Detail oriented with proven analytical and problem-solving skills.
Maintains punctual, regular, and predictable attendance.
Adaptability to learn our business, understand processes and recognize the needs of others when making decisions and be a resource to others in the payroll process.


Duties and Responsibilities

The Payroll Manager possessing the education and experience listed above performs the following:

Implements, maintains, and reviews payroll processing to ensure accuracy of payroll transactions, including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions in a timely manner.
Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws.
Ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, pay rate changes and employee W4 updates.
Calculates, processes, and files all monthly, quarterly, and annual federal and state withholding taxes, unemployment taxes, workers compensation payments and any state local taxes.
Files intents and affidavits and manages certified payroll reports.
Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare payroll account reconciliations and supports all internal and external audits related to payroll.
Calculates and prepares weekly 401k reports.
This position oversees the entire payroll function for divisions/subsidiaries.
Processes year-end W-2’s for employees and files W-2/W-3 information to each state and the IRS.
Works collaboratively in a team environment with a spirit of cooperation.
Respectfully takes direction from manager.
Other duties as assigned.
