Payroll Specialist

Responsibilities:

1. Managing the preparation, distribution, and reporting processes for weekly payroll.
2. Ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates.
3. Preparing and maintaining accurate records and reports of payroll transactions.
4. Ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.
5. Facilitating audits by providing records and documentation to auditors.
6. Identifying and resolving issues and discrepancies pertaining to payroll records.
7. Collaborating with Human Resources (HR) and Accounting teams to align and reconcile payroll data.
8. Handling union-related payroll matters, ensuring all requirements are met.
9. Managing construction payroll, ensuring all unique aspects are handled accurately.
10. Providing excellent customer service by handling and resolving payroll-related inquiries or complaints.

Qualifications:

1. A minimum of 2 years of proven experience in payroll processing.
2. Experience in managing union payroll and construction payroll is required.
3. A strong understanding of payroll and payroll tax laws.
4. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with a strong emphasis on Excel.
5. Experience with payroll software systems.
6. Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
7. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
8. Strong numerical skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
9. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
10. Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise extreme discretion.
