Job Details

The Plant Controller directs the financial activities of the plant and manages the communication of financial information to assist management. This position is a key role in the accounting and operations teams; and is responsible for processes, and operational improvements related to cost and inventory management, accounting, and reporting operations to ensure the accuracy and completeness of inventory, capital spending, and manufacturing costs. Regularly exposed to confidential information, requiring appropriate discretion. This is a fast-paced, high-volume role with interaction with various levels of the organization including plant operations, leadership, procurement, and finance. This position is located at our plant in Seattle, WA but offers the potential for a flexible hybrid work schedule.

What you'll be contributing:

  • Promote and follow all plant safety guidelines.
  • Additional duties as assigned by the supervisor
  • Coordinate site finance for manufacturing variances, costing, general ledger accounting, performance metrics, inventory valuation and analysis, forecasting, and budgeting
  • Perform month-end financial close; including journal entries, accruals & reconciliations for inventory, and general ledger accounts
  • Produce weekly, monthly, and annual financial reports
  • Lead financial review and analysis and communicate results to plant management
  • Analyze, understand and explain variances in key performance indicators and manufacturing costs; including month and year-to-date comparisons to budget and prior year to drive cost reductions and improve profitability
  • Lead preparation of monthly plant forecast and communicate projections to management
  • Work with other departments on daily and monthly production reporting; including reconciliation of raw material receipts & usage, work in progress, and finished goods
  • Coordinate and oversee physical inventories
  • Lead preparation of detailed plant budget
  • Assist with preparing the annual capital budget and reconciling project spend throughout the year
  • Maintain plant equipment and fixed asset listings
  • Follow SOX procedures and maintain proper evidence
  • Provide support and supervision for Payroll and Accounts Payable processes
  • Supervise Accounting Assistant and Office Assistant
  • This role may be eligible for a hybrid work schedule (remote and onsite) after an initial onboarding period

To succeed in this position, you will need:

  • Ability to read, write and understand warning labels, instructions, signs, etc.
  • 3 or more years of experience in a similar position.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance is required. CPA, CMA or Master’s degree is a plus.
  • Strong understanding and knowledge of U.S. GAAP is required
