Job Details
The Procurement Specialist is responsible for purchasing and negotiating materials, equipment, and supplies from vendors. Evaluates vendor quotes and services to determine most desirable suppliers. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals to perform a variety of tasks. Coordinates activities involved with new product introduction, strategic planning, source materials, procuring goods and services such as raw materials and equipment to meet production requirements and to support our group.
Responsibilities of the job include:
- Enter and maintain accurate order records, and be able to follow through if there is a need for replacement
- Generate bids/RFQ and negotiates contracts with vendors, suppliers, etc.
- Review open purchase order reports with other team members and adjust as required
- Analyze project material availability for customer orders and identify risk buys on long lead time items through the MRP system
- Reduce cost by evaluating, negotiating and coordinating with vendors and suppliers and present to the manager for approval or apply problem
solving skills for independent judgement or by following the approval matrix
- Manage inventory turns by reviewing the MRP system
- Ensure proper communication for internal and external customers
- Participate in meetings and present solutions as needed and as assigned to reach target goals
- Update the MRP system as needed
- Observe company policies and procedures
- Perform other tasks assigned and as needed

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree a plus
- 3+ years of demonstrated experience in a Purchasing Department in a manufacturing environment
- Experience with Procurement MRP/ERP systems, Business Central a plus
- High level of organization, with the ability to handle a multitude of projects simultaneously
- Requires the ability to communicate effectively in English (written and verbal)
- Ability to meet product release deadline by identifying and mitigating risk buys
- Ability to multi-task and independently prioritize projects & deliverables
- Must be flexible and able to adapt to changing priorities and procedure
- Demonstrated experience of skills required
- Castings, fiber glass, cables, electronics, sheet metal, machining, refrigeration, motors procurement preferred
- Successful completion of pre-employment screening
- Legally authorized to work in the United States
