We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Permanent Project Accountant to join our thriving Commercial Construction team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in project accounting and financial analysis, with a keen understanding of the construction industry. This role will involve providing financial guidance and support to project teams, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and maintaining compliance with state tax laws.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee financial aspects of commercial construction projects, including cost accounting, budgeting, and financial reporting.
- Collaborate with project managers to develop and monitor project budgets, identify potential financial risks, and provide financial insights that contribute to project success.
- Prepare and analyze monthly project financial statements, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain state tax compliance, including preparing and filing tax returns, responding to tax audits, and implementing tax planning strategies.
- Liaise with audit firms to facilitate internal and external audits, ensuring all financial records are accurate and up-to-date.
- Utilize Microsoft Excel to create financial models, analyze data, and generate financial reports.
- Implement and uphold project accounting policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with company objectives and industry best practices.
- Assist with financial forecasting and strategic planning, providing financial insights that contribute to company growth and profitability.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in project accounting, preferably within the commercial construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting, cost accounting, and state tax compliance.
- Proven experience with Microsoft Excel, including creating financial models and analyzing large data sets.
- Previous experience working with an audit firm, with a strong understanding of audit processes and requirements.
- Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to analyze complex financial data and provide valuable insights.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to present financial information in a clear and understandable manner.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail, with a commitment to accuracy and quality.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is an asset.
