Overview:

We are seeking a litigation associate to join our Public Entity practice group. In this role, you will represent various public entities—including municipalities, school districts, public transportation districts, park and recreation districts, and water districts—in state and federal litigation. Cases involve issues such as dangerous conditions on public property, inverse condemnation, ADA compliance, and constitutional challenges under both the United States and California Constitutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Represent public entities in state and federal court.
  • Manage cases from initial filing through resolution, trial, or appeal.
  • Develop and implement litigation strategies.
  • Oversee all aspects of discovery, including taking and defending depositions.
  • Draft and argue dispositive motions.
  • Communicate directly with clients and maintain ongoing client relationships.
  • Participate actively in trial preparation and proceedings.

Qualifications:

  • Three to five years of litigation experience with progressive responsibility in pre-trial discovery and motion practice.
  • A strong interest in public entity law and a commitment to learning its nuances.
  • Excellent legal writing, research, and oral advocacy skills.
  • A drive to build trial experience and grow professionally in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Outstanding academic credentials from an ABA-approved law school.
  • Active license with the California State Bar.
