Job Details

This position is responsible for multiple research protocols including HIV and SARS-CoV-2 (the novel coronavirus that causes COVID-19) vaccine and monoclonal antibody studies and other prevention protocols. This position will also include performing all aspects of the study protocol process and procedures.

Responsibilities include:
Perform all aspects of research protocols including informed consent, physical exams, medical history, phlebotomy, peripheral intravenous catheter placement, and administration of study products including but not limited to intramuscular and subcutaneous injections and intravenous infusions while adhering to study protocol and Good Clinical Practices (GCP).
Determine eligibility of screened study participants through physical exam, medical history, laboratory results and other research procedures. Assess and manage reactions to study products and adverse events utilizing clinical judgment and experience while following proper adverse event and safety reporting requirements under supervision from the study physician/Principal Investigator. Counsel research participants about COVID-19 (SARS-CoV-2) infections, HIV/AIDS and sexually transmitted infections, contraceptive options, risk reduction, conduct testing for COVID-19, and conduct testing for HIV and sexually transmitted infections.
Conduct structured interviews with research study participants on medical and behavioral issues.
Perform phlebotomy, insert peripheral intravenous catheters, and collect other specimens including nasal and urine specimens. Serve as a resource for non-clinical staff including referrals for COVID-19 and HIV management and care, etc.
Maintain records and complete study-related case report forms and source documentation per protocol requirements.
Maintain confidentiality of study participants and adhere to principles of Human Subjects Protection (HSP) and Good Clinical Laboratory Practice (GCLP)
Participate in quality assurance activities in collaboration with the site’s Data Management staff and the network’s Statistical and Data Management Center.
Adhere to study protocols, and other appropriate regulations, procedures and policies.
Write and sign study specific prescription and corresponding New York State prescription for study drugs.
Assist in developing and maintaining study-related educational materials, including study flip charts, updating SOPs related to clinical management issues, etc.

To qualify, a bachelor’s degree, with at least one year of Infectious disease clinical and/or research experience preferred. Prior experience with phlebotomy and peripheral intravenous catheter placement for infusions is preferred.
