We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Senior Accountant to join our team. The successful candidate will be a key player in our finance department, responsible for applying accounting principles and procedures to analyze financial information, prepare accurate and timely financial reports and statements, and ensure appropriate accounting control procedures are adhered to. The role demands a strong understanding of GAAP, experience in the insurance and reinsurance sector, particularly in Property & Casualty insurance, as well as experience with Ceded reinsurance.
Job Details
Responsibilities:
1. Prepare financial statements and business activity reports.
2. Conduct detailed financial analysis to project future revenues and expenses.
3. Maintain the integrity of financial reports by ensuring compliance with GAAP and applicable federal, state, and local regulatory laws and rules for financial and tax reporting.
4. Collaborate with external auditors to ensure successful audit results and compliance.
5. Interact with various levels of management and departments within the organization.
6. Participate in strategic financial projects including upgrades/implementation of ERP systems.
7. Oversee and manage the general accounting functions, including, but not limited to: accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and taxes.
8. Manage the financial risk of the company by ensuring compliance with insurance and reinsurance regulations, particularly in Property & Casualty insurance.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. A CPA or equivalent qualification is desirable.
2. Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience, preferably in the insurance industry.
3. Comprehensive understanding of GAAP.
5. Experience with Ceded Reinsurance.
6. Proficient in STAT reporting and other relevant accounting software.
7. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
8. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
9. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage well through ambiguity and complexity.
10. Ability to execute and follow-through to completion and documentation.
11. Proactive, hands-on strategic thinker who will own, in partnership with the CFO, the responsibility for finance.
