Senior Accountant - STAT / Insurance Accounting

The ideal candidate is a Senior Accountant with insurance experience and is looking for the next step in their career! A CPA is strongly preferred. This position is remote but the team will fly the staff into Boca 1 week out of the month to collaborate, meet with team members and build a strong culture!

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Accountant to join our dynamic team. As a Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for managing and overseeing all financial activities, including investment accounting, cash accounting, and statutory accounting principles. You will also be responsible for ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and maintaining accurate financial records. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cash accounting, investment accounting, GAAP principles, and STAT accounting principles.

Responsibilities:

• Manage and oversee all financial activities, including investment accounting, cash accounting, STAT, and statutory accounting principles.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and maintain accurate financial records.
• Prepare and analyze financial statements and reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
• Provide guidance and support to junior accounting staff.
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure accuracy of financial data and resolve any discrepancies.
• Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts.
• Prepare and file tax returns and ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations.
• Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy in financial reporting.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
• CPA certification preferred
• 5 + years of progressive experience
• Experience in investment accounting, cash accounting, and/or statutory accounting principles.
• Insurance Industry experience is a plus
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other accounting software.
