Senior Accountant

They are in growth mode and are seeking a Senior Accountant to join their established accounting department.

Our Sr. Accountant will be responsible for a broad range of accounting activities relating to the maintenance of a complete and accurate general ledger and the resulting managerial reports and financial statements. You may provide guidance to less experienced accounting staff. You will be responsible for general accounting function maintenance of the general ledger and sub ledgers in recording accounts payable, payroll, and related journal entries. Our Sr. Accountant, reviews and prepares standard and specialized financial reports such as balance sheets and income statements according to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and within FASB (Financial Accounting Standards Board) guidelines.

Essential Duties

Prepares monthly Sales & Use Tax returns for all state and local jurisdictions
Maintains the Fixed Assets System and prepares monthly depreciation journal
Maintains Unclaimed Property records, research/report to appropriate states
Records daily cash activity and other miscellaneous journal entries
Ensures accurate account balances
Reviews individual corporate card reconciliations for completeness, accuracy, and sales tax handling
Responsible for recording monthly corporate credit card journal entry
Responsible for monthly balance sheet reconciliations, as assigned, and timely resolution of variances
Participates in and assists accounting team with the monthly close process
Provides audit requirements / detail for annual audit and special engagements as needed
Other duties as required

Minimum Requirements

5+ years of relevant experience
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field is required.
CPA or CMA preferred
Proven work experience as an Accountant or similar role
Experience in calculating and reporting sales tax returns
Proficiency in Excel
Technical knowledge of accounting regulations, policies
Self-driven and detail oriented.
