We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Accountant to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing monhtly and annual accounting tasks as well as strategic process improvements. The Senior Accountant will report directly to the Director and will have the opportunity to work closely with various departments.
Responsibilities
1. Manage and oversee all aspects of financial operations including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and General Ledger activities.
2. Prepare and analyze financial reports, including balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and cash flow analysis.
3. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management on needed actions.
4. Implement and manage financial systems and software, particularly NetSuite, to streamline financial processes and improve reporting accuracy.
5. Assist with the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts, tracking actuals against budget, and analyzing variances.
6. Coordinate and manage the external audit process, liaising with external auditors and managing the preparation of audit materials.
7. Contribute to the development of financial strategies and make recommendations for improvements to ensure the financial success of the company.
8. Collaborate with other departments to streamline processes, improve financial reporting, and provide financial training as needed.
Qualifications
1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. A Master’s degree or CPA certification would be a plus.
2. A minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, preferably in the scientific industry.
3. Proven experience with accounting software, particularly NetSuite.
4. Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
5. Excellent analytical skills with a thorough knowledge of accounting principles to analyze financial reports and forecasts.
6. Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
7. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate financial information effectively to non-financial colleagues.
8. Proactive problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve financial issues promptly.
9. Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines.
10. Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion in handling sensitive financial information.
