Senior Accountant

Established supplier company that has been around over 50 years and continuing to expand up and down the East Coast!

Reporting to the Controller, the Senior Accountant maintains all company general ledgers and coordinates the daily activities of the accounting personnel to quickly and accurately record the revenues, expenditures, assets, and liabilities of all companies.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain the general ledgers.
• Manage all cash, including placement and movement of funds for numerous companies.
• Maintain CAPEX spending and maintain property ledgers.
• Produce monthly financial statements including balance sheets, profit and loss statements, cash flows, and accumulative general ledger using a computer-based accounting system.
• Monitor and ensure that all general ledger accounts are reconciled to subsidiary records monthly.
• Prepare monthly closing general ledger entries.
• Reconcile all bank statements.
• Oversee fuel tax and property tax reporting.
• Oversee, in conjunction with an independent auditor, preparation of data to support audits.
• Maintain financial compliance with GAAP standards.

Qualifications:

• Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 5+ years of accounting experience
• Experience using multiple accounting software platforms (Great Plains, Microsoft Office, Payroll, Banking, etc.).
• High degree of auditing experience (GAAP) and fixed asset accounting.
• Knowledge of operating budgets and capital budget concepts.
• CPA is a plus
