Our organization is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Accountant to join our dynamic finance team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in accounting with an emphasis on general ledger management, account reconciliation, financial statement preparation, and internal controls. This position requires a minimum of 5 years of experience in the finance industry and a deep understanding of accounting principles and corporate finance. The successful candidate will play a significant role in managing, processing, and troubleshooting various accounts and transactions, contributing to the overall efficient operation of the finance department.
Responsibilities:
1. Manage the daily operations of the accounting department, including general ledger maintenance, balance sheet reconciliation, and income statement analysis.
2. Prepare accurate, timely financial statements in accordance with our established schedule and with input from the rest of the accounting department.
3. Conduct regular ledger procedures, including reconciling bank statements and managing month-end activities to ensure timely closings.
4. Develop and implement effective internal controls to prevent inaccuracies in financial statements, budgets, and financial planning.
5. Analyze financial reports for discrepancies and other issues that should be brought to the CFO’s attention.
6. Review all inter-company transactions and generate invoices as necessary.
7. Coordinate with the external auditors, prepare necessary documents, and assist with the annual audit process.
8. Streamline accounting functions and operations to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
9. Engage in continuous education and staff development, stay current with the latest industry trends and changes.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. An advanced degree or professional certification such as CPA is preferred.
2. Minimum of 5 years of professional accounting experience, preferably in the finance industry.
3. Proficient in accounting software, Microsoft Office Suite, especially in MS Excel.
4. Solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
5. Strong knowledge of general ledger functions, account reconciliation, and financial statement preparation.
6. Proven expertise in implementing and maintaining internal controls.
7. Excellent analytical skills with an attention to detail.
8. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
9. Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple deadlines.
10. High level of integrity, accuracy, dependability, enthusiasm, and confidentiality.
