We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Accountant to join our dynamic team in the Mortgage industry. This is a permanent position that offers an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced, challenging environment where you will play a pivotal role in managing and controlling the business's financial operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in P&L, financial statements, month-end close, journal entries, and mortgage banking.
Responsibilities:
As a Senior Accountant, you will:
1. Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
2. Oversee the month-end close process, ensuring all financial data is accurately recorded in a timely manner.
3. Prepare and post journal entries, and reconcile balance sheet accounts.
4. Conduct variance analysis of P&L statements, providing detailed explanations of variances and trends.
5. Participate in the development and implementation of financial policies and procedures.
6. Collaborate with internal and external auditors to ensure compliance with established controls.
7. Perform ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting as required.
8. Provide financial insights and recommendations to support decision making.
9. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and changes in mortgage banking regulations.
Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, you will need:
1. A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A CPA or MBA is highly desirable.
2. A minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role, preferably within the Mortgage industry.
3. Proficiency in P&L, financial statements, month-end close, journal entries, and mortgage banking.
4. Strong knowledge of GAAP and other applicable regulatory rules, regulations, and requirements.
5. Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization.
7. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced Excel skills. Experience with accounting software is a plus.
8. Ability to work independently and as part of a team, manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and meet deadlines.
9. Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in preparing and entering financial information.
