Bachelor's or Master's degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering
10+ years of overall experience
7 years minimum within industries like aircraft, automotive, or towered wind structural analysis and testing involving composite materials.
Demonstrate a proven track record in modeling and scrutinizing composite structures through the utilization of Finite Element Analysis tools like FEMAP/NASTRAN. Additionally, exhibit proficiency in employing manual calculations and handbook methodologies where appropriate.
Possess real-world knowledge in evaluating composite structures under both static and dynamic loads. This includes practical experience in assessing structural designs for life-cycle determination, encompassing fatigue analysis and the identification of structural failure modes and their effects.
Showcase hands-on experience in validating models through testing, underpinned by a profound understanding of composite structural analysis. This includes a keen insight into the failure modes specific to composite structures, as well as the ability to establish robust structural analysis models ensuring clear comprehension of failure modes and a quantified margin to failure.
Demonstrate expertise in formulating load cases, determining inertial loads on components and sub-assemblies based on dynamic flight data, and integrating externally sourced distributed aerodynamic loads into Finite Element models.
Display a solid comprehension of composite manufacturing methods, spanning both prototyping and production phases, and an awareness of how selected methods impact design decisions and potential failure modes for the structures.
Possess the skill to extract geometry from CAD models for the construction of Finite Element models using tools like FEMAP or similar software.
Show extensive experience in analyzing joints between composite structures, encompassing both permanently bonded joints and detachable mechanically fastened joints.
Exhibit a passion for tackling challenging problems, crafting innovative solutions, pushing boundaries, acquiring new skills, and actively contributing insights to the team.
